Safeguarding at BIS

Safeguarding compliance

All safeguarding concerns are managed by our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in collaboration with the Safeguarding team and the Head of School.

We work in compliance with Belgian laws and Bogaerts International School adheres to Belgian legislation and works closely with these agencies, following their inter-agency procedures and seeking legal advice to ensure compliance.

For detailed information, please refer to our full safeguarding policy or contact the Designated Safeguarding Leads at BIS.

Due diligence when hiring

BIS undertakes a rigorous security and reference-checking process for all our employees.

For local staff, this includes an extended security check from the Belgian authorities.

For faculty joining BIS from other posts, this includes an extended police check from the last country of residence. It is school policy to actively seek confidential references for all new employees and to regularly update employee awareness through in-house training.
