Have you ever contemplated on the different places and spaces that have been important in your life, for one reason or the other?
Have you ever wondered where your favourite clothes come from? Or maybe where that favourite bag of yours was made?
How do you think maps can help us to access and interact with this information?
Students in the 2nd year of our secondary program have been inquiring into the reasons why trade routes and humanity's innate need to continuously move, change and interact. They had the opportunity to engage in an inquiry that allowed them to make connections and find relationships among the concepts of human movement and interactions and trade.
Students embraced the role of clothes manufacturers and explored ways on how to make sure their products get to their customers. By employing different types of maps, students located the spaces that are of importance to them, tracked their movements around the globe; and finally showcased the trade routes used for their clothing and accessory items to reach them as consumers.
